Villa Franco in Porto Raphael
The famous British architect Alberto Ponis author of the International Theatre in London, the English University and more projects designed Villa Franco. This villa is a precious piece because it was the first to be built around a monolithic rock that has been inserted throughout the house to make it unique and special. This feature is available in the living room, in the living room, in the bedroom and in the bathroom. The villa has been published by the architect in his book and also in many journals of Italian, English and German architecture. In the area there is only one villa that is set into the rock, built by an English lord and later purchased by an Arab prince. The villa is one of the few equipped with central heating.
It ‘was one of the first all-concrete villa to be built in Porto Rafael, with the cavity formed by a layer of insulating material. Summer is always fresh because the rocks and the cavity make their work. In addition, much furniture was designed by the same architect and built by the cabinetmaker Simplicio using juniper wood, in a time when it was not prohibited by law to use this precious wood. The advantage of the juniper apart from the strength is that its scent is throughout the house. When the villa is opened after the winter season it does not smell of mould like all the houses by the sea. It is actually pleasantly scented.
